The Computex 2013 has just kicked off and companies have lined up to make announcements and launching various devices. And one the first companies to take the center stage and announce its devices is Acer which has today made the Acer Iconia W3 Windows 8 tablet and the Acer Liquid S1 phablet official. First up is the Acer Iconia W3, which we already knew was coming and here it is. After appearing a couple of times, Acer has officially announced the launch of the Acer Iconia W3 which is the first 8 inch Windows 8 tablet and arrives with an 8.1 inch display and runs on Windows 8 Pro OS out of the box.


Microsoft recently reduced the requirement of the minimum resolution required for the Windows 8 OS which hinted that tablets were incoming and the Acer Iconia W3 arrives with an 8.1 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels while being powered by an Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The Acer Iconia W3 packs 2 GB of RAM along with 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage options, which is further expandable using a microSD card slot.

The Acer Iconia W3 comes bundled with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 which is a huge plus for the device and the buyers and Acer promises 8 hours of battery backup to users. The company will also be offering an optional keyboard too which has been priced at €69 while the tablet will be available for €329 for 32GB and €379 for 64GB.

Next up is the Acer Liquid S1 Android phablet which has a 5.7 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while it is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. There is 1 GB of RAM to compliment the processor and 8 GB of internal storage which is expandable using a microSD card slot.

Acer Liquid S1

There is a rear and front camera on the Liquid S1 but Acer has not revealed any details of it. The Acer Liquid S1 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and the smartphone will be available in single and dual-SIM options. Connectivity wise there is 2G, 3G, but no 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm audio jack and it get all the juice from a 2,400 mAh battery. The Acer Liquid S1 will ship sometime in Q3 2013 for €349 or about $455 in select regions of Europe, including France, Belgium, Netherlands, Ukraine, Russia, UK, Germany whihc will be followed by Spain and Italy.
