Yesterday we told you about the Acer Iconia A1-830 tablet with Intel Atom processor that was announced. And alongside it, Acer also went on to unveil a smartphone, called the Acer Liquid Z5 which goes on to pack in some mid-range specifications and a modest price tag accompanies it. The Acer Liquid Z5 arrives with a 5 inch capacitive touch screen display which has a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.


The Acer Liquid Z5 is powered by a decent dual-core MediaTel processor clocking in at 1.3 GHz with Mali 400 GPU which is coupled with 512 MB of RAM, so the performance of the device is going to be good for on normal usage. The smartphone has 4 GB of internal memory which is not much but users will be able to expand it up to 32 GB using a MicroSD card slot. The Z5 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS while there is a decent 5 megapixel rear camera which has 5 elements f2.4 lens and is coupled with LED Flash. There is a basic VGA front facing camera for user to make video calls.

Acer has included DTS Sound technology into the smartphone for some nice music listening experience while Acer RAPID is also made available for users which is designed for letting then have one-hand control of the device to launch the camera, take a picture and unlock and/or wake-up the screen or even pick up phone calls easily. Connectivity wise, the Acer Liquid Z5 smartphone is dual SIM options with 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack and GPS on board. It measures about 8.8mm and weighs 147 grams. There is a 2000 mAh battery to power the smartphone which should be enough to keep it running for users.

To be made available in Essential White and Gentle Grey colour options, the Acer Liquid Z5 is priced at about 169 Euros with availability in Germany, Portugal, Ukraine, United Kingdom and France expected from mid-January.
