Earlier last month, we shared with you about the Acer Iconia W3 tablet which went on to leak online and was touted as the first Windows 8 tablet to arrive with an 8 inch display. And over the weekend, the guys at PCWorld spotted a product listing on Amazon which not only confirmed the device, it also revealed a few specs along with the pricing at which the Acer W3 will be available for after the tablet goes official. Recently, Microsoft went on to lower the minimum screen resolution from 1366 x 768 pixels to 1024 x 768 pixels which hinted that Microsoft could possibly be planning to bring smaller tablets to compete with the Android tablets and the iPad Mini. And the Acer W3 is the result of it.

The 8.1 inch tablet will have a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels while it is expected to be powered by a dual-core Intel Atom processor which will be coupled with 2 GB of RAM. The tablet will arrive with the x86 processor thus making it possible to run the Windows 8 Pro OS rather than the scaled down Windows RT OS.

Acer W3 Listing Amazon

According to the listing, which has now been taken down, the Acer W3-810 tablet will have 32 GB of internal storage while a 2 megapixel camera on the rear will be available for users. The tablet will weigh somewhere around 499 grams and measures 8.62 x 5.31 x 0.45 inches. The average battery life is said to be of about 8 hours. The listing suggests that the Acer W3 will be priced at $379.99 but we cannot confirm anything on that until Acer makes the device official. Also for now there is no information as to when that is going to happen but a recent report suggests that the much talked about Windows Blue update is specifically for supporting tablets with smaller displays and should be out sometime in Q3 or later so we will have to wait for a while for the Acer W3 to be announced.
