Finally Google entered the tablet computer market with its Nexus 7 tablet which is world’s first Quad core 7″ Tablet. Google Nexus 7 tablet is manufactured by Asus. This tablet runs latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Pricing of Nexus 7 is very attractive, 8GB Galaxy Nexus 7 tablet costs only $199 and 16GB Nexus 7 Tablet costs $249. Asus Galaxy Nexus 7 is not an iPad killer as the new iPad is way more expensive than Nexus 7. Amazon Kindle Fire is the closest competitor of Nexus 7 tablet, which is available for $199 only. In this article I’m going to compare Asus Nexus 7 with Amazon Kindle Fire tablet to find out which is the best tablet for $199 price.

Asus Google Nexus 7 vs Amazon Kindle Fire comparison:

Processor and RAM: Processor is the brain of computing devices, the more powerful the processor is the faster the device will run. Amazon Kindle fire has 1GHz dual core processor which is good for a tablet in this price range. But Google Nexus 7 is a real game changer here, it brings Quad core processor to sub $200 tablet. Asus Nexus 7 is powered by 1.3 Ghz Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and it has 12 core graphics processor for console quality gaming experience. Nexus 7 has 1GB RAM which is twice the amount of RAM which Amazon Kindle Fire has.

Screen:Display quality is an important factor to consider when purchasing a tablet computer. Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 both has 7″  ILS LCD screen but resolution is different. Nexus 7 packs higher resolution 1280×800 screen whereas Kindle Fire has 1024×600 resolution screen. As a result Nexus 7 screen has 216 ppi display and Kindle Fire has lower 170 ppi display.

Amazon Kindle Fire

Camera: Camera is not an important feature of tablets. However, having a front camera is good for quick video calling with friends and family. Amazon Kindle Fire doesn’t have any front and rear cameras. Asus Nexus 7 has 1.2 MP front camera which is good enough for Google+ hangouts and Skype calling. It can also record 720p videos using the front camera.

Operating System: Both of the tablets run Android operating system, but their version number is different. Amazon Kindle Fire runs older Android 2.3 Gingerbread whereas Asus Nexus 7 comes preinstalled with latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system which brings several performance enhancements and new features.
