Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC has today announced the launch of a new smartphone called the HTC Butterfly 2 which is the global variant of the recently announced HTC J Butterfly which was announced for the buyers in Japan. The HTC Butterfly 2 comes with 5 inch full HD Super LCD 3 with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels while the device will be powered by a powerful Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocking at 2.5 GHz.


The processor is coupled with 2 GB of RAM while the internal memory is pegged at 16 GB and 32 GB which will further be expandable up to 128 GB using a microSD card. The HTC Butterfly 2 will come with Android 4.4 KitKat OS out of the box with HTC Sense 6 UI on the top of it. The phone comes with Ingress IPX5 and IPX7 rating making it both dust and water resistant.  It comes with a 13 megapixel primary rear camera with dual LED Flash and has f/2.0, 28mm lens while there is a 2 megapixel secondary rear camera to capture additional depth information. The HTC Butterfly 2 has a nice 5 megapixel front-facing camera with BSI sensor.

Connecitivity wise, the HTC Butterfly 2 will come with the usual 2G, 3G, 4G LTE< Wi-Fi dual-band, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio and microUSB port apart from a Infrared LED which will enable users to use the phone as a remote control. The company has also tied up with HARMAN and thus, the HTC Butterfly 2 comes with JBL LiveStage Signal Processing Technology for a nice and improved audio output. A powerful 2700 mAh battery will power the smartphone and the device will be available in Blue, White and Red colour options.

The HTC Butterfly 2 is coming to Malaysia, India, Thailand, Hong Kong very soon and will be available in Taiwan starting September 2nd.  We are excited about the Butterfly 2 making it to India. No details on the pricing yet.
