There were a few leaks earlier and some teasing too and today, Chinese giant Huawei has officially announced the launch of the slimmest smartphone (until now) called the Huawei Ascend P6 which goes on to measure an awe-inspiring 6.18mm thick and also comes in a metallic casing which has an integrated network antenna. The Huawei Ascend P6 looks elegant and will be available in three colours viz. Black, White and Pink. Going by the specifications, the Huawei Ascend P1 arrives with a 4.7 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and arrives with the “MagicTouch” technology which is nothing but that the screen can be operated while wearing the gloves.

The device is powered by a quad-core processor from Huawei themselves and it clocks at 1.5 GHz and which is complemented with a 2 GB RAM so the performance on the smartphone should not be a cause of worry for the users. Internal memory is pegged at 8 GB which is thankfully expandable using a microSD card slot up to 32 GB. Oh and apart from the thin 6.18mm thin profile, the P6 weighs just 120 grams which is really light.

Huawei has included an 8 megapixel camera on the back with f/2.0 aperture and 4 cm macro mode while the front facing camera is of a 5 megapixel resolution. Going by the OS, the Huawei Ascend P6 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box with Huawei’s very own EmotionUI on top of it. The connectivity options include the usual 2G, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack but there is no 4G or NFC support on the device. The battery is of 2000 mAh which seems to be decent enough to pull you through the day.

The Huawei Ascend P6 will begin shipping to China from June and in Western Europe from July through Vodafone, Telefonica, Orange, H3G, O2, Carphone Warehouse, TalkTalk, Media Markt & Saturn, TIM and online via Amazon and CDiscount with other markets to follow while there is no information on the pricing yet.
