Apple today took the center stage to announce the launch of the much rumoured and much awaited cheaper iPhone called the iPhone 5C (C for colour and not for cheap) which has been launched to replace the iPhone 5 and not sell along with its predecessor. The 5C was launched alongside the iPhone 5S and carries the same 4 inch Retina display as on the iPhone 5 and is powered by the A6 dual-core processor.
The iPhone 5C measures 124.4 x 59.2 x 8.97mm while it weighs about 132 grams. The smartphone will run on the latest iOS 7 OS which has been designed keeping the 5C in mind and the colours of the device are selected to match the OS. The colour accent of the device will go on to match your iPhone 5C’s colour and it will be made available in White, Pink, Yellow, Blue and Green colour options. The 5C will support2G, 3G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Lightning connector. The camera on the iPhone 5C is of 8 megapixel couple with a LED Flash. There is a new front facing FaceTime camera which has been bundled into the smartphone.
The battery is said to give a talktime of 10 hours on 3G and the iPhone 5C will be made available in 16 GB and 32 GB storage options and has been priced at $99 and $199 on a two-year contract. The unlocked version of the 5C has been priced at $549 and $649 which is not at all cheap. We are expecting the device to be available in the Indian market starting at around Rs.35,000 which is not affordable for sure. The iPhone 5 has now been discontinued and the 5C will be up for pre-order in the US on September 13th with it being available in the market starting September 20th along with the iPhone 5S.
There is no news yet as to when it will reach the Indian shores but we will keep you updated on that as we hear it from Apple. Apple has also announced new cases to go along with the 5C and they have been priced at $29. Will you buy the iPhone 5C.
