The moment for which we all have been waiting for so long has finally arrived. Today, Cupertino based tech giant Apple has officially announced the launch of the Apple iPhone 5S which has leaked a lot over the past few months. And we already knew most of the things thanks to the rumours and the leaks, the Apple iPhone 5S is just an incremental upgrade over the Apple iPhone 5.

iPhone-5S

To start with, the Apple iPhone 5S packs in the same 4 inch Retina Display as on the Apple iPhone 5 and will run on the latest iOS 7 which has got a whole new look after Apple decided to revamp the OS after 6 long years. On the inside, the Apple iPhone 5S runs on the A7 chipset which is the first 64-bit chip on any smartphone and is twice as fast in speed than the A6 processor on the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5C. This is coupled with 1 GB of RAM and the internal storage on the iPhone 5S will remain available in three options viz., 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB.

Apple has improved the camera and the iSight camera on the iPhone 5S now has a new, five element Apple-designed lens with an F2.2 aperture. The sensor now has a 15 % larger active area. The camera takes multiple images and picks the best of them. The much talked about “True Tone Flash” has two LEDs where one is white and the other is Amber. The flash clashes with the color in the room and there are over 1000 unique variations which will provide better images, especially skin tones. Apple has included OIS, a new burst mode (10 fps), Slo-Mo which will can capture videos at 120 fps.

Next up is the Touch ID, which is one of the most awaited features of the iPhone 5S and it is bascially a fingerprint scanner which is 170 microns thin, senses 500 ppi and scans your sub-epidermal skin layers. It is integrated into the Home Buttom and a metallic rings around the button will activate it. All that a user needs to do to unlock the phone is to touch the Home button. And of course, it can handle multiple fingerprints too. The battery on the iPhone 5S is said to be larger than that on the iPhone 5 and is said to provide stanby time of 250 hours while 10 hours of 3G talktime.

The iPhone 5S will be available in three colours: White, Space Grey and Golden and has been priced at $199 for 16 GB, $299 for 32 GB and $399 for the 64 gig version on a two year contract. Apple has also introduced new cases for the 5S which are available in multiple colors and cost about $39. The pre-orders for the phone start on September 13th while it will be available starting September 20th in the US, Autralia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore and the UK.
