We have seen loads of prototypes of flexible displays for mobile phones in the past couple of years but nothing truly materialized in the real world. But it seems that we are slowly but steadily moving towards seeing the day when a Smartphone with flexible display will be released for commercial use. But before that we will see loads of curved smartphones and this trend has already been started with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Round smartphone. And today, another smartphone called the LG G Flex.

LG-G-Flex

The LG G Flex arrives with a 6 inch plastic OLED display and has an ultra-thin, ultra-light flexible profile. The 6 inch display has a display resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display is brighter and precise thanks to the Real RGB placement of the pixels which means all three sub-pixels are placed in just one pixel. The LG G Flex is powered by a powerful 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU which is coupled with 2 GB RAM thus the performance of the smartphone will be great. The internal memory on the device is pegged at 32 GB.

The LG G Flex has a 13 megapixel camera on the back with LED Flash while there is a 2.1 megapixel camera on the front. The device runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. The curved design of the LG G Flex goes on to reduce the distance between the user’s mouth to the microphone when the device is held against the ear and thus helping in increasing the voice quality level by 3 dB. LG feels that the design will also give users better grip and will slide well in the back pocket.

Like on the LG G2, the company has placed the physical button on the back panel and the back cover has self-healing technology since it is coated with a special material so that scratches can be removed within minutes. The G Flex arrives with a curved 3500 mAh battery. Connectivity wise, the LG G Flex rocks 2G, 3G, 4G LTE< Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone will be available in Titan Silver colour while no information on the pricing is available yet.
