As we are nearing the possible launch of the next generation of Nexus smartphone which will be called the Nexus 5, more and more leaks around the device are flowing in. We last saw the details of the pricing and the battery capacity of the smartphone rumoured and today we have the best of all leaks. The Nexus 5, which is rumoured to be unveiled on October 28th, 2013 appeared briefly on the Google Play with the tag “Capture the everyday and the epic in fresh new ways. Starting at $349.”

This went on to confirm a couple of things. First, the Nexus 5 will indeed be called as Nexus 5, second, the smartphone will be launched for a price tag of $349 which is the same price tag at which the Nexus 4 launched first launched last year. The URL for the page also listed the Nexus 5 as “black 16GB”, which goes on to imply that Google might have plans to launch devices in other colors at some point in the future or along with the Black variant. Google was quick to remove the test page.

There is still a bit of confusion as to how much battery capacity will the Nexus 5 smartphone launch with as earlier reports have suggested that the smartphone’s 16 GB variant will have 2300 mAh battery on it whereas the 32 GB variant might pack in a larger 3000 mAh battery and arrive with a price tag of $399.¬†Going by the specifications, the phone will pack in a 4.95 inch full HD IPS display, a quad-core 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel camera with LED Flash and OIS while a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video calls will be available. Android 4.4 KitKat OS is going to run the show on the Nexus 5 and we expect the OS to be much smoother and improved over the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS.

With the launch of the Nexus 5, we expect Google to lower the pricing of the Nexus 4 smartphone for whatever stock is available in the market while the device remains to be out-of-stock on the US Google Play Store.
