By now, everybody is aware that Microsoft is all set to buy Finnish giant Nokia and that the company was rumoured to be working on a 6 inch phablet initially code named as Nokia Bandit and later confirmed by @Evleaks as the Nokia Lumia 1520. And now images of the phablet which is expected to ship with Microsoft’s General Distribution Release (GDR) 3 have appeared online gives us a good look as to what is in store for us in the coming months.


First up, the Nokia Lumia 1520 will be the first device to launch will the GDR3 update and will pack in a huge 6 inch display, making it the biggest device from Nokia till date and the screen is expected to carry a full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels display which will now be supported with the GDR3 update. On the internal, the phablet will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor which will be coupled with 2 GB of RAM. Internal storage on the Nokia Lumia 1520 is pegged at 32 GB and a microSD card slot will also be made available for users to expand the memory.


Going by the leaked images (full gallery), the Nokia Lumia 1520 is expected to be arriving with some improved PureView technology on board and the device will be able to take photos at 5 megapixel and 16 megapixel resolution simultaneously and the camera UI has also undergone some nice changed.


With the GDR3 and Nokia’s Bittersweet Shimmer update, Lumia smartphones will now be able to support a range of features like a driving mode which is designed to mute calls and texts automatically when paired with Bluetooth to a car, Rotation lock, which was missing for years is on its way and improved multitasking changes will also be included together with support for custom sounds on text, voice mail, email, and reminders. Now that the leaks are flowing in every day, we expect the Nokia Lumia 1520 to go official sometime in the next few weeks.
