Last week Finnish giant went on to send out invites for the possible launch of its first smartphone running on Google’s Android OS, though a forked one, called the Nokia X and as expected, the company has today officially announced the launc of the Nokia X smartphone in the Indian subcontinent for Rs.8,599 which we feel is a bit pricey for the specifications that the smartphone comes with, but might come down in the coming weeks.

Nokia-X

The Nokia X comes with the specifications which include a decent 4 inch display which has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels while the smartphone is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Play processor which is coupled with 512 MB of RAM. The device comes with internal storage which is pegged at 4 GB while this will be expandable using a microSD card slot. The smartphone runs on the Nokia X software platform 1.0 which is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and carries a Windows Phone-like user interface.

There is a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera on the back of the Nokia X and it will have 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, FM Radio on the connectivity front. The Nokia X has been priced at Rs. 8599 which is a bit pricey for the specifications that the device arrives with and we just hope that the price comes down in the coming months. Also, the company is yet to launch the Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL and we think the launch will take place some time by next month in the country. Will you buy the Nokia X?
