After loads of rumours and a couple of leaks, Korean giant Samsung has today officially announced the rugged version of its flagship Galaxy S4 which is being called as the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. The S4 Active is a waterproof and dust resistant Smartphone which arrives with an IP67 Ingress rating which allows users to use the device for up to 30 minutes in 1 meter deep water. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active has a 5 inch full HD TFT (and not Super AMOLED) touchscreen display which can also be operated with gloves on thanks to the ‘Glove Touch’ feature that Samsung has included.

It is powered by a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor which is coupled with 2 GB of RAM while Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean will be running on the smartphone with Samsung’s Nature UX on the top of it. There is 16 GB of internal storage on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and users will further be able to expand it using a MicroSD card slot.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active has an 8 megapixel rear camera which users will be able to use to capture their beloved moment and the ‘Aqua Mode’ has been included which can be used to increase visual quality and clarity for enhanced underwater images and video. The volume key located on the side of the device can be used as a camera key, allowing users to easily and quickly open the camera application to capture photos and video the moment it happens. Also, the camera transforms into a powerful LED flashlight to assist in low-light and nighttime activities with a simple long press of the volume key.

A powerful 2600 mAh battery has been included to power the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and features like S Translator, S Travel(Trip Advisor), S Health, Story Album, Group Play, Smart Scroll/Pause, Air View/Gesture and Samsung WatchON amongst other will also be available for users. Samsung has said that the S4 Active will be sold in Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare colour options starting with the US and the Sweden followed by other countries in Summer.
