After months of rumours on how well would Korean giant Samsung be able to impress us with its next generation flagship smartphone, at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, the officially unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S5 which does seem to be a step forward from the Galaxy S4 but not a big leap for the company, both in terms of design and specifications or even the features as much as we all expected.

Leaving that behind, the Samsung Galaxy S5 arrives with a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, so nothing groudbreaking there. Next, the device is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM which should take care of all your processing and multi tasking needs while the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available in both 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options, which will further be expandable using a microSD card slot. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS and comes with new Icons for its application and no major changes to the UI.

Samsung has upped on the camera front with the inclusion of a 16 megapixel rear facing shooter on the Samsung Galaxy S5 with LED Flash and capability to record 4K videos. It has HDR (Rich Tone), Selective Focus (read Refocus as on the Nokia Lumia smartphones), and more new additions including auto focus speed up to 0.3 seconds. There is a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera also on the device. The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with IP67 Ingress rating making it dust and water resistant and the device also has a 2800 mAh battery with a Ultra Power Saving Mode which will turn the display to Black and White and also close unwanted processes which will result in providing users extra backup in those crucial ‘low-battery situations’. Oh and not to forget, the Samsung Galaxy S5 also has a fingerprint scanner which will help you save guard your personal information and also in mobile payments.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has 2G, 3G, 4G LTE-A, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, USB v3.0, NFC, Wi-Fi MiMO, 3.5mm audio jack on the connectivity front. The phone will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold colors for an unknown price tag and will be available in over 190 countries starting April 11, 2014.
