After flooding the market with several Galaxy devices, Samsung is coming with new Galaxy Tab 3 series of Android tablets. Samsung announced new Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 tablets with 8 inch and 10.1 inch screens respectively. These tablets will replace last year’s Tab 2 series of tablets. So whats’ new on Galaxy Tab 3 series? Actually there is almost nothing to write home about. There is no major hardware updates, these are almost similar to older generation tablets. For the first time Samsung is using Intel processors in their tablets. It will be interesting to see their real life performance of these chip sets. Design wise these tablets looks similar to a bigger Samsung Galaxy S4. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Tab 3 10.1 are not high-end tablets, these will be competitively priced. Let’s take a look at these new Galaxy tablets.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 has 8 inch LCD screen with 1280×800 pixel resolution which gives a moderate 189 ppi. It is powered by 1.5 Ghz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor and there is 1.5 GB RAM. PowerVR SGX544 GPU will be taking care of graphical needs. It features 5 MP rear facing camera and 1.3 MP front camera. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will come with latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s Touch Wiz skin. It has a MicroSD card slot which supports up to 64 GB memory. 4,450 mAh battery will be powering the tablet.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 will be replacing last years Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet. There is almost no major difference between Tab 3 10.1 and Tab 2 10.1. Tab 3 10.1 has physical home button along with two capacitive keys. It will be saving some screen real estate but I’m not whether it is a good decision or not because using these physical buttons will be inconvenient when holding the tablet in portrait orientation.
Just like its smaller sibling it is also powered by dual-core Intel processor which is clocked at sightly higher 1.6 Ghz speed. Surprisingly It has only 1 GB RAM compared to Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 which has 1.5 GB RAM. The 10.1 inch LCD screen has old school 1280×800 resolution which offers poor 149 ppi. There is a 3 MP rear camera and 1.3 front facing camera for video calling. It will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Touch Wiz UX. 6,800 mAh battery will be powering the tablet.
