Earlier today, Sony went on to announce the Sony Xperia Z Ultra smartphone officially which arrives with a huge 6.4 inch display and is ultra-sleek at just 6.5mm thickness and as we can guess, the phablet will also arrive with a hefty price tag. But to cater the needs of the mid-range users, the company has also announced the Sony Xperia C which is the first smartphone from the company to arrive with MediaTek’s chipset on board.


We do know that the adoption of MediaTek processors is going mainstream and Sony finally decided to give it a chance and thus the Sony Xperia C is powered by MediaTek MT6589 quad-core processor which clocks at 1.2 GHz which is complemented with 1 GB of RAM. The Xperia C has a 5 inch Capacitive touchscreen which has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and internal storage is pegged at 4 GB which will be expandable using a microSD card slot up to 32 GB. Not to forget, the tiny LED notification light which is liked by many has also found a place on the smartphone and is found just below the 5 inch display.

The Sony Xperia C runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and carries an 8 megapixel camera with Exmore R Sensor and LED Flash on the back while a VGA front camera is available for video calls. The Smartphone arrives with dual-SIM and dual-standby feature while connectivity wise it will support 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MHL and GPS. The smartphone will also have the Battery Stamina Mode which will help users to extract more juice out of the battery.

The Sony Xperia C will be available in Black, White and Purple colour options and will hit the markets expectedly sometime in Q3 2013. There is no word on the pricing and the device will be available exclusively on China Unicom.
