After months of leaks and rumours, today is the day when the ‘Sony Honami’ has gone official as the Sony Xperia Z1 and is here to challenge the cameraphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Nokia Lumia 1020 as the device goes on to arrive with a 20.7 megapixel camera with Sony G-Lens which is found on the point and shoot cameras from the company. Going by the specifications (which we already knew and go on to match the ones which leaked earlier) the Sony Xperia Z1 goes on to arrive with a 5 inch Triluminos Display with X-Reality for Mobiles with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.



The smartphone is powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM. The internal memory on the device is pegged at 16 GB while it will be expandable to 64 GB using a microSD card slot. The Sony Xperia Z1 measures just 8.5mm thick and is on a heavier side as it weighs 170 grams. The device is made up f a single aluminium frame with tempered glass in the front and the back. It is water and dust resistant with IP55 / IP58 certifications. The Sony Xperia Z1 features Sony ‘G Lens’ with a 27mm wide angle and F2.0 aperture, custom made large 1/2.3-type CMOS image sensor Exmor RS for mobile with 20.7 megapixel and a BIONZ for mobile image processing engine which should produce some crisp and clear images. There is also a 2 megapixel front facing camera on the Xperia Z1.

The Sony Xperia Z1 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and connectivity options include 2G, 3G, 4G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, MHL, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB portIt is powered by a powerful 3000 mAh battery which should be enough to pull the device through a day’s usage. The Sony Xperia Z1 will be made available in While, Black and Purple colour options and will start selling from this month in various markets around the world for a price tag which was not disclosed.
