Sony had announced its gigantic phablet, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra with a 6.4 inch display back in June and there are surely many of you who wished for the smartphone to run stock Android OS out-of-the-box. And if you are one of those who had really wished for it, there is some good news coming in. The Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition smartphone is now available for buyers from the US Play Store. The Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS out-of-the-box and is bound to receive all the future update as soon as they are available.

The Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition has a 6.4 inch display with a full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and it is a Triluminos Display with X-Reality for Mobiles which will go on to display rich, natural colours. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra also runs on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor which clocks at 2.2 GHz with 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage is pegged at 16 GB which will be further expandable using a microSD card slot.

Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition is factory unlocked and can be used over 2G GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 3G (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz) and  4G LTE (700, 850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100, 2600 MHz) networks. The device is also dust proof and water resistant with with the IP55 and IP58 Ingress rating. There is an 8 megapixel rear camera with Exmos RS sensor while a 2 megapixel front-facing camera with 1080p video recording will be available for users but it doesn’t have any camera flash.

Priced at $649, the Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition will ship in 1-2 days in the US with Google offering free shipping for a limited time.
