XOLO, an Indian company which is lately trying its best to capture the maximum number of buyers in the lucrative Indian smartphone market has today announced the launch of a new device called the XOLO 8X-1000 which comes with the company’s very own and just announced user interface called the Hive UI and the XOLO 8X-1000 is being termed as ‘Hive Inside’. The specifications of the phone are nothing extraordinary and include the usual as stated below.


The XOLO 8X-1000 comes with a 5 inch IPS display which comes with with ASAHI Dragon trail glass protection on the front and Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the back. The display arrives with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while the device is powered by a Octa-Core MediTwk processor clocking at 1.4 GHz and is coupled with 2 GB of RAM, which will take care of all the processing that the users might throw at it. There is also the Mali 450-MP4 GPU on the XOLO 8X-1000 to take care of all the graphical processing.

There is 16 GB of internal storage and no news on an available microSD card slot while the smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS and comes with loads of customization options. With the Hive UI, users will have a range themes, launcher, widgets and customized system apps that they can choose from.

The XOLO 8X-1000 comes with an 8 MP camera with LED Flash on the back while there is a 2 MP front facing camera. Connectivity options include the usual 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB port while the phone is powered by a powerful 1920 mAh battery. All of this will be available for Rs.13,999 starting next week in India.

It is nice to see that finally an Indian OEM is taking efforts and investing its resources in developing custom UI from the ground up and not just selling a phone with little modifications to the stock Android OS. Kudos to XOLO for this one.
