XOLO, the company which made heads turn when it launched the first smartphone with Intel processors has today announced the venturing into a new segment which is tablets. Yes, XOLO has just teased its first tablet called the XOLO Tab on its Facebook page and shared the specifications of the upcoming device with us. The XOLO Tab is an 8 inch tablet with Voice calling capability with support for 3G network.

The XOLO Tab’s 8 inch IPS display has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels which is decent enough if the company is looking to price the voice calling tablet in the budget range. The device is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 (8225Q) processor with Adreno 203 GPU. The processor is coupled with 1 GB of RAM and the tablet packs in 4 GB of internal memory which will be further expandable using a microSD card slot. The XOLO Tab measures 214.2 x 154.9 x 11.3mm while it weighs about 480 grams.

The 8 inch XOLO Tab runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and has a 2 megapixel camera on the back of it while a VGA front facing camera for video calls and chats has been included by the company. Connectivity wise, the device supports 2G, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, microUSB v2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack apart from A-GPS and is powered by a 4000 mAh Li-Po battery which is said to provide a talktime of 16 hours on 2G and 12 hours on 3G network. For now, this is all we know about the XOLO Tab and there is no information on the pricing and the possible launch date. But now that the teasers are out, it should not be long before XOLO Tab is made available in the market.

It will be interesting to see as to how the Tab is able to compete in the already crowded cheap Android tablets’ market in India and if it will find any buyers.
